ANACAONA TOP BIJA
about Anacaona Bija
Inspired by Anacaona, the Taíno queen. Anacaona was a powerful and influential member of the Taíno society, born into power and powerful on her own right. She was a chief, a singer, a poet and overall a strong woman. This bikini is an ode to the woman I imagine her being: a beautiful, confident and stylish woman.
Bija is a red seed the Taínos used as sunscreen and presumably, make up. They used the word to refer to red. This strong and stunning red is the perfect color to exemplify their passionate and romantic view of the world.
